Higher Octane via Superchips good/bad?

I have the Superchips 87 octane performance running on my '06 4.7L but am contemplating if it's worth it bumping up to the highest octane. Can someone explain to me why it's OK to run the higher octane with the higher tune on an engine that specifically wants 87? Or maybe it's not good for it?

The extra money spent on gas pretty much evens out the MPG boost as far as I can tell. I ran it for a month of so but went back down to 87 because I wasn't sure it's really great for the engine.

the higher octane tunes have increased ignition timing, requiring higher octane gas.

Yes, I understand that. I'm just curious if anyone thinks it bad to adjust timings to accept a higher octane.

Its old school.way.of getting more umphf out of engine is to play with timing
