If you want it done right, do it yourself(rant)
Hello everyone,
I got a mopar hitch installed last week at a dealer. I went back and forth on doing it myself using the DIY tutorial I found on here but decided to just have the "professionals" do it since I would of had to take it in to get the hitch activated anyway. So the hitch looks great but they didn't install the wheel well trim/mudlfaps back on correctly. There's a slight gap between the painted bumper and the black plastic trim down where the flaps are. Plus the flaps are loose as a goose now. I had installed the flaps myself and they were nice and tight/snug against the jeep. Now they fit like crap thanks to the "professionals". They forgot to put the 2 lower screws in too which I did myself with extra hardware I had from the flaps.. What a joke. I take my jeep to a dealer with "certified" technicians and they can't even do the job right. For now on, I will do it myself....rant over

I think there are a few good mechanics out there but not many. Most do not take pride in their work and put in their 8 hours to get their paycheck and leave. It has gotten so bad that my company has went back to letting us service our own vehicles. We seen to many vehicles leave dealerships with no oil in them, parts not put on right, or they say problem is fixed but come to find out they didn't do anthing but still charged. Do it yourself and you know it is done right.

Most mechanics get paid by the job, not by time spent at the job. The automotive industry has cut the job rate so low that the mechanic is losing money because a job may pay 1 hour but takes longer to get done. The result is corners being cut to get the work done in the alloted time. The dealer I go to only pays .3 hours for an oil change. So the mechanic has to pull your car into the bay, put it up on the lift, change the oil and filter, do a courtesy check, and get the car washed and returned to the customer all in 18 minutes. Its a recipe for cut rate work. I don't blame the mechanic, I blame the industry for creating this issue.
