TPMS Issue

For the past couple weeks I have been getting a "service tire pressure system" message and the display showing my left TPMS as not reading tire pressure. I picked up a new TPMS to replace it, but after changing my oil the other day I rotated my tires and after doing so the display still shows the same left rear as not reading tire pressure. This leads me to believe that it's not the actual TPMS in the tire but the sensor in the wheel well.
Does that sound correct or is there something else that I should check?
Does anyone know the part # or catalog name for that sensor in the wheel well?

Re: TPMS Issue

I just had to change a TPMS sensor in my 05WK. Since I didn't know much about the sensors, I of course looked up everything I could find. The one thing I did find out is that the sensors on my Jeep don't start to send a signal until movement of the wheel at a particular speed. This is why the spare tire, which I believed to be very low on air pressure, never sent a signal. I knew the one was bad because it was cracked. I got this information from either wkjeeps.com or tpmsdirect.com. The big difference in our sensors though is mine don't tell which wheel is low, just that one is low.

Re: TPMS Issue

Mine does the same- on occasion showing a dotted line for both rear tires, I have not dealt with it yet but I assume the sensors in the tires are fine, it would be the ones in the wheel well that need replacement :(

Re: TPMS Issue

I'm not sure if you have fixed the issue, but had a similar one on my '06 GC. The sensors are re-learned by the TPMS system after driving for 10 consecutive minutes at 15mph or higher. So, based on this, when your tires where rotated the sensors were re-learned and the reason the same sensor showed the error.

I had a similar issue and replaced it and haven't seen the message since. I bought the sensor online as it was considerably cheaper than the dealership and went to a local tire store where they replaced it for me

Good luck
