Test drove a 2013 Overland for fun. Less options for 2013??

I have a 2012 Overland V6 with adaptive cruise. I love it, but im starting to get bored of the overall V6 driving experience. It does the job and gets pretty decent fuel economy, but sometimes I do miss the grunt and low/mid power of the V8. So today after work I test drove a 2013 Overland V8. My impressions were I liked the sound much better and it seemed the midrange power was the most noticeable. Full throttle to be honest didnt feel all that different and I was kind of surprised it didnt seem quicker. Anyway back on subject....As I went to adjust the steering wheel I noticed it did not have the power telescopic steering column like my 2012 Overland does. Why in the world would they do without that? The only thing I can think of is they are kind of taking away the Overland as being top of the line, and the Summit is now its own special model. So I am assuming the 2013 Overland Summit still has all that stuff right? It just caught me by surprise I was searching for the steering column joystick only to find the big manual lever there instead. So now what, for us guys that want it all we gotta dish out more money and get the Summit?

At this point I'd wait and see what they do with the '14.

It's funny. I have power tilt/tele. I set it when I bought the vehicle two years ago and haven't touched it since. The wheel never got in the way getting in and out, so I shut off the feature that retracted the wheel when the car was shut off.

Unless there are multiple drivers, some features don't really need to be powered. IMHO

Yeah I mean I do agree with you about that, I have my easy exit feature turned off, and even when my wife drives the Jeep she has the steering wheel in the same spot anyway. Either way im not gonna buy a 2013, but I just wanted to see how the V8 felt compared to the V6 which I have grown used to. I was just surpised to notice that missing feature. Less stuff, but the price keeps going up.

I do recall a previous discussion about that issue and if I recall correctly, the power adjustment is still available on the Summit.

I'm not sure, however, if they did that on purpose or if it was a supply-issue and they opted to take it off the "regular" Overland. I think that was discussed in the old thread as well - but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I just picked up a 2013 Overland this morning; seems the only thing "missing" is the power steering wheel. But I never adjusted the thing on my 2012 with the power assist so I don't think it's a big deal. And the Overland I had before that -- a 2008 -- had manual steering wheel adjustment. No big deal.

Yeah I understand its not that huge of a deal but just weird that they dropped that for 2013. I know the steering position is different between my memory settings and my wife's and the push of a button it's taken care of.

Yeah I figured they had it. Sounds like for 2013 they wanted to make the Summit a little more exclusive than the regular Overland.

How many wives you got? In post #3, I think you said that wife leaves the wheel in the same position.
