Whats the difference in diff ratios.
Hey guys what is the difference (other than the ratio itself) in low and high ratio diffs eg 3.55 and 3.73. I see them generally listed as seperate items for parts eg air lockers. Is it that the crownwheels are different thicknesses or something.
I ask because I'm chasing a price off soemone for a pair of Quadradrive diffs to toss up whether it's worth putting them in my CRD but trouble is they are from a V8 so I would have to be able to regear with my ratios. I don't really know whether it is possible or how, due to the part differences for things like lockers etc. I can't use different ratios to standard as the Merc gearbox is too smart and doesn't like them and it's very hard to find Quadradrive diffs from a CRD over here as they are rare second hand.
Can anyone shed any light on whether it can be done EASILY???
