where does the remote wire go?

99 limited, infinity gold. i dont know where the remote wire goes. i attached it to a fuse in my panel and it was working fine, then i bought a wiring kit (the same wiring kit i had before) and i started my car to find that the remote wire burned up literally, its charred, burning my carpet. so i need to know if i did someting wrong. i dont know where it goes. i really dont know alot about stereos, so help me out and explain it easily, thanks. and i dont wanna splice into 1000 wires either, i need to know for sure. before i splice.

It burnt up because too many volts were traveling through a wire that could not handle it. Always fuse your power wire and your remote power wire (if it's not tapped into the harness).

If you're using an aftermarket stereo, you can just tap into the blue/white wire in the harness.

If not, you can just tap into the positive wire on the cigarette lighter.

Fuse your remote power wire with an inline fuse holder and 3 amp fuse. You can get them for a few bucks at Autozone.

Yup, any wire 22 gauge or larger (20, 18, 16 gauge) will be fine.
