Camera(s) Question...

Is there a way to view the back up camera while in drive (toggle the camera on) and is there any front aftermarket cameras available for the Overland That I can toggle while driving on the highway? Thank-You. :D

And if so? Does anyone have any photos of what the front camera looks like? And how it displays on the screen?:) Thanks!

Re: Camera(s) Question...

You'll need an addon gadget like the mygig lockpick, there is another make that I cannot remember off top of my head right now. If your Overland has the factory camera, you'll have to rewire the power so that it uses the power provided by the lockpick to be able to view it in any gear.

On the front camera part, you can get some cheap ones or the more expensive name brand ones. I've been thinking about adding a front camera to my Laredo but have not spent time to figure out how I'm going to get the cable/wire back into the cabin.

Yeah! I Think It would be nice to be able to view the rear camera in drive because then you could get the plate of who is tailgating you so you remember them(HA!) and I think the front camera would be nice for when your squeezing into a tight spot at Walmart and/or driving on the interstate! I just hope it's not to pricey to do this!:)

Re: Camera(s) Question...

It's about $290 from this site: MYGIG LOCKPICK The one I got was from ebay for slightly less. If you think you're going to need support, get it direct from the manufacturer.

Re: Camera(s) Question...

You can do that by adding either a LockPick or the Allgig by NAV-TV. They both have multiple video inputs. I have the Nav-Tv piece and I have the ability to toggle between the front camera and rear camera at any time on the front screen. Also, you don't have to rewire the rear camera with the Nav-Tv as it already is constantly powered by the vehicle already. Pressing the power button on the radio with different pushes on the bottom is what toggle through the inputs (cameras). It works great and also gives you "Video In Motion and Navigation In Motion" as well. That piece is about the same price as the Lockpick. There are several reverse image front cameras that you can get for under $200. Install is literally 15 minutes if you do the module and rear camera only. Pop off the radio bezel, undo the 4 radio screws and plug in the "T" harness. All "plug and play", no splicing off any wires. If you choose to do the front camera also, you will need the second audio/video "T" harness and the installation is a little bit more complicated. Hope that helps.
