Adding back-up sensors?

Not sure if there is a thread on this already buuuut...

How hard is it to add the factory back-up sensors? Is all I need the chrome trim with the holes for the sensors, the sensors themselves, and the associated wiring?

I think you need the limited or srt rear bumper, switch, and prob the draler to hit it with the scan.

Got the limited bumper... forgot about the switch too. Just trying to decide if it's worth it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I'd need:

- Chrome strip w/ holes
- 4 sensors
- Switch for dash
- Associated wiring
- Dealer to activate?

The only thing I think might be tough to find is the wiring.

I think the wiring should be there. You should just have to get the trim with the sensors. But that sounds about right to me. I'm sure if Scott sees this thread he will know for sure.

Oh yeah there's a led strip inside on the roof right in front of the rear window that lights up to tell you what side and how close you are.

Re: Adding back-up sensors?

The aftermarket kit comes with sensors that can be installed in the bumper or the chrome strips. It also comes with all the wiring and the audible/visual indicator for the interior but it doesn't have as many lights to measure how close you are as opposed to the OEM ParkSense... only three lights total.

For a more fluid look, buy frankie's parts and incorporate them into the aftermarket kit, ditching the sensors that come with it. New.. each chrome sensor is around $50 + the $100 chrome strip + the kit costing $245, then getting it wired and activated costs even more. I've been wanting to do this for a while but can't justify the price.

I've only backed up into my trailer once and I would have rather had a backup camera instead of sensors... imo. With the steep rake that the rear window has.. judging the distance behind the WK is tough but manageable.

Yeah I like the cam better. Sensors are only good when you're close to something and by that time it may be too late.
