Light/moderate trails close to nyc?

Anyone know of any trails within a 50 mile radius of NYC? I am looking to do some light wheeling and can't seem to find anything other than private land that caters to 4x4 clubs only. Thx!

Contact NYS Department of Environmental Conservation

There is still some accessible state lands in the Catskills. For a longer trip, the Adirondaks. If you'll settle for sand, there is state beach access available on Long Island. You need a permit and better carry a fishing rod.

Again, a bit further, Montauk Point has State access to the beach.

I'll do that, Thanks. I do(did) a fair amount of beach driving but was looking for more along the lines of fire roads and dirt trails.

There's an off road Jeep club in Middletown (I think) which has or uses trails in the Catskills... some are a little more "off" road than you (or I) are looking for.
