Problem with HVIC ??

Hey guys, I just got my 2008 CRD a few days ago and i have noticed something strange. With the HVAC turned off (fully off), air and outside odors coming in from floor air outlets (only) both passenger and driver side. It seems that this is also related to vehicle's speed because the faster i drive, the more air volume is entering the cabin. This is very annoying because now that it's winter, my feet are getting cold but also because anything that smells outside, smells inside the cabin as well. Is this how this system works ??? Have anyone of you guys have the same issue (it's not that difficult to notice)??? Can you please asisst ?

From experience with my previous car i know that when the a/c system is off all outlets are shut.

Connie, Is your WK fully loaded(all the Bells and Whistles)? Dual zone Heat/air? Cant be much help but try WKJeeps dot com and read up on the system in question. Maybe the system has a BIT(built in test).

Re: Problem with HVAC ??

will try that as well.....on the other hand if all of us in this forum driving GC's, then it would be very easy for someone having the same model with me (2008 Overland Diesel), to put his hand towards the floor vents (driver or pass side), with all modes OFF and to check for incoming air from floor vents when driving in xs of 70 miles

Hi Connie
Climate control is normally the same on 2005-2010 models .
Have you tried turning the right knob to other positions like panel only .
If you have still air coming trough the floor outlet there is a problem :(

Normally when the ac is closed you shouldn't have a lot of air coming out of these ducts , probably a bit flow is possible

Halllo Jeeper_57, i went to the dealer today. Yes there is a problem. The recirc actuator gear is broken. They told me they have to replace the whole housing incl the recirc door for abt 350 euro but I see from other in
this forum that there is a quick fix. I will try to fix it myself today because..... there is not way i pay 350 bucks for this small thing.

I 've heard also about the issue , i've seen it before but not on mine :D
if I remember well it's due to the electonic actuated blend doors or something alike.
In automatic they are moving " all the time " that used them much more than manually controlled .
To solve the problem you will need to remove all the dash..
Have a nice dismounting time :p

You can do it yourself with some simple tools.
