2013 laredo drive axle problem
Hey new member here. Thought I would join to inform/get help on an issue I'm having on my 2013 GC Laredo V6. I've had less than 1 month. Bought with 200 miles and now has about 1200. The day I drove off of the lot I was hearing a clunking noise in the drivetrain up front. Thought that maybe it was the calipers sticking since it was new and just needed broken in. It mainly occured at slow stop and go speed. I asked my dad since he's a front end mechanic of over 40 years if this was normal. He said it should all be pretty tight in the drivetrain since its brand new but now there are so many moving parts on cars these days that maybe there is some play somewhere. He said I should take it just to have it checked and documented. I made plans to go this Friday but the wife came home last night and said there is a new thumping/rubbing sound. I took it for a drive and heard the noise so I went to the dealer that night to have them listen. The manager was the only one there and said he couldn't leave the desk so I described everything and left with an appt. for today. On the way home I got on the interstate and a severe vibration shook the car. I went straight back and told him the new issue. He still didn't listen to it. Well on the way to drop it off today something popped and a severe vibration and wouldn't move. Had to be towed. Turns out that the drivers side drive shaft came loosse from the differential and was flopping around.
Dealer said today that all of the bolts were gone connecting it to the diff. Plus there is probably other damage from it flying around. Hopefully this is an isolated case and not gonna happen on others. Chrysler is definitely going to hear about this. Once the dealer has more info I'll pass it on. Sorry for the long first post!
