Adaptive Headrests
Well, I found what the adaptive headrests do, they go sproing on a rear impact. Is there a way to reset them ?

Was getting ready to exit Interstate. Cars in lane in front stopped. I stopped. F150 truck behind did not stop. Did a number on tailgate and rear fascia. Fortunately I was already on brakes and did not hit car in front.

Hitch did a number on his bumper. Truck's airbags deployed and had to be towed away. Heep seems to drive normally but will take to Jeep in next day or so for checkout.

Any suggestions about "diminished value" ? Has under 8,000 miles.

Re: Adaptive Headrests
Traffic had been running 40 then lane stopped. Was enough to spring both headrests iin the Jeep and both airbags in the truck & truck was not drivable. What does that take ?

Photos in morning.

Re: Adaptive Headrests
Yeah there is a way to reset them, I am not sure but it may be in the owners manual?

Try that or

Re: Adaptive Headrests
The manual shows them resetting pretty easy. Just get in the back seat and reach around and pull the head read backwards until it latches back into the plastic housing.

Yes, but it's more involved than just pulling them back into place. There are some VERY IMPORTANT procedures involved in the reset. See attached.

Thank you, I suspect I will let the dealer reset them. Am supposed to talk to my adjuster first and plan to insist that the dealer do the work. Fortunately do not need to drive it today & dealer is about 15 minutes from me.

Has been a very long time since I've been in this situation (my last accident was sometime in the last century). Just glad I was not in the little roadster I was driving earlier. At least the truck that hit me belongs to a business and appears to have insurance.

Wow, glad your ok and it wasn't worse. 2 accidents in 2 weeks from users on the site (Marlon and then Padgett). People must be headhunting the Jeep cuz it is so beautiful and they are jealous. Hopefully it gets fixed fast and right the first time.

Re: Adaptive Headrests
Did not get good pictures at scene. F*rd front bumper was quite deformed, could see where trailer hitch impacted. Closest decription would be what a F*rd truck would look like if it hit a cement post about two feet high.Going by the specs, the truck weighs nearly 1,000 lbs more than my Laredo. Glad I did not get pushed into the car in front but I tend to leave some extra space & was on the brake already.Looking at the damage I am surprised they do not tout the receiver assembly as a safety feature but will want the "frame" alignment checked closely by the dealer.

Re: Adaptive Headrests
Glad you're okay. Hopefully you didn't tense up too much before impact, as that could show up several weeks later. Jeep looks like only a new bumper and tailgate would be required, unless having the hitch transferred the impact father in. Fingers crossed.

Ouch! 'Glad you're ok. The Jeep can be fixed...

And kudos to you for leaving room when you stop. I also try to do that, although sometimes one has to be prudent and not make it "easy" for idiots to suddenly pull into the extra space.
