Guess it was my lucky day.

After doing my laundry last night I discovered my key fob sitting in the bottom of the washer. I tried all the features on it and lo and behold it works fine and it's darn clean and smells good. :D

Just out of curiousity does anyone know about how much the dealer charges for a replacement?

I've routinely cleaned mine by running it through the washer and drier. Don't use bleach as that may discolor the plastic :)

That's funny.

Seriously.....many times and still worked?

Four times. The key, I think, is to run it through the dryer to knock out any water and remove moisture. Seriously though, don't do this....

I think they are ~$150 list plus you may have to have them programmed by the dealer.

+1 They aint cheap per CC's note above. Plus, I made the mistake of buying a cheaper used unit on ebay and ended up needing to have the dealer reprogram the passive entry system.

Check out the Fobik by prying it open. The buttons themselves are formed by a rubber sheet that keeps moisture and dirt from the battery and mini module, though a vigorous dunking would eventually fry the thing.

If one happens to submerge the Fobik, I'd suggest opening it up and drying it out to save it from damage and corrosion.

Yea, that would be a good plan except for all those pesky restraining orders.

Do you guys check pockets at all before washing?

I've never mistakenly washed anything.

This is my first fob without a key, so I tended to forget the little bugger was still in my jeans pocket. In my house I'm not allowed to do laundry unless it is 100% mine, and my wife stopped checking my pockets when she found out that the washer does a good job cleaning coins.

LOL!!!

I also appreciate how clean the quarters come from the wash.
Good thing our currency (paper included) is so "durable". I still find (on occasion) the odd $5 or $10 in the pocket of a clean pair of jeans....

Never the FOBIK, though.... :D (Knock on plastic-covered wood trim.....)

Is this FOBIK not attach....

Oh wait I forgot, some people don't do that.

Disregard my comments. :p

All of my keys are on the same set. My mom's Dodge Journey has Keyless Enter-N-Go and she still has it on her main key set, except now she never touches it except to remote start.
