When people ask you the price you paid how do you react?

I have a Summit and when people see it they're excited and love the interior. Then the usual question comes out, "how much did you pay for it?" I seriously do not like when people ask me that question. Not only does it put me in an uncomfortable position, but I actually don't think it's their business because it kind of tells them how much money I make. I usually just say "enough" or "a lot." However, people like to hear numbers, but I normally don't give it up.

How do you feel when people ask you "how much did you pay?"

I don't think I give them an answer. Maybe in regards to invoice, I'll say $500 below invoice (there were no incentives at the time I bought).

how much you car is worth has no relation to your income IMO. I tell people when they ask, I really don't care.

I guess it says you make more than minimum wage, but that's about it. I see people driving new BMW's and I make more than them. It's all about where your priorities are. I would rather buy stuff for my wife and kids, so that's why I only have a Laredo X. I wanted a stripped down model with the Hemi but they don't make it that way. :)

I bought used, but I tell them. They could easily get a 'round bout number from the internet anyway, so what's the difference??? That's the way I feel about it.

Whether you disclose the specific number or not, or whether you paid above or below invoice, in virtually any case, generally the price-value of the WK2 is a NFB. No Brainer.

I lie and tell people it's leased if they ask, I think it's rude to ask if I'm not close with the person.

That's interesting that you would say how much. I know they can get the msrp on the web, which is what I normally tell them. I just don't like saying how much. In the past I've said how much one of my cars was and all I heard was "oh, for that amount you could have purchased such-and-such." I guess that just put me off so much that it has become a reflex to not say how much it was.

As for the stripped down model, I used to drive in the lowest end WJ you could find. The only "luxury" was the Quadra-trac II 4x4 system. I'd still be driving it if I didn't total it out.

What's interesting about the BMW comment was that I knew 3 receptionists that were making far less than me and each one drive a new BMW. As you said, it's priorities on how to spend our money.

Yes! That's my feeling. I had an owner of a restaurant ask me straight out how much I paid for it. I didn't say anything other than my standard "enough." Apparently the reason why she asked so directly was because her husband just bought the 2012 JGC and from the sound of it they got taken big time and she wanted some reference. Needless to say she wasn't happy with her husband's purchase.

It depends who asks. For years I negotiated car deals for many of my friends and relatives. We all knew what we paid because it might help someone decide if they wanted one.

Some people who ask I honestly tell them it's none of their business. It's not hard to tell it like it is, so why lie.

The question has no relervance to your income
We all know the RRP of the vehicle so who cares

Why the question is asked to asertain the deal you have done and weather you got ripped off and paid Full RRP

Knowing what the average deal is then the person has more amunittion in order to get a simular or better deal.

That's the way people who are in great debt (poor people) generally think. Lol
