WJ transmission, to flush or not to flush...

Hey guys!

I'm wanting to change out my trans fluid and filter on my '04 WJ (4.7 VIN "N", Quadratrak II) I've read in a few places that it could be harmful to "flush" the trans and to just drain the fluid and refill. Is this true? If so, why?

Thanks!
Lorne

Some say that a power flush will stir up debris and cause other problems. Honda definitely recommends against it with their Pilots (I have one). Honda's recommended procedure if the transmission service has been neglected is to do 3 drain and refills with a little mileage in between. That's what I would do if I were you if you are concerned about the transmission fluid quality.
