15,000 and broken in now???

ADMIN - COULD YOU CORRECT THREAD TITLE TO "BROKEN IN".....

Hi All - Have had my WK2 for 21 months and just about at the 15,000 (I know, I'm not high mileage). I noticed last month that it just drives so smooth now. Much smoother in shifting etc. than when new. So, I guess it just gets better with some mileage on it (and I loved it brand new too...now even more).

I was just talking with someone this evening that bought a WK2 about a year ago and has just about 15,000 miles on it too and had comment to his wife last week that it was driving very smoothly and broken in too. So, he thought it was funny that I had told him that my WK2 just seems to have been fully broken in at 15,000.

Soooo, the question is at what mileage did you notice that your WK2 was fully broken in?

Mine was pretty good at 5k miles, seemed to mature into a fine running vehicle about 10k miles. These V8s seem to have an extended adolescence period :) Some never grow up I hear. 30K now.

I have a light foot so mine has been good from the start. 28,000 miles at 22 months into the voyage.

Only 15K miles? I'm at nearly 31K right now.

Running smooth as the day that I bought it!

Can't say I have a "light" foot :D

I just noticed it seemed smoother yesterday. I'm at 14,250 miles. V8.

I wonder if winter-blend fuel has anything to do with it?

53,000 miles on my '11 and it's crazy smooth. I get compliments from 90% of people that ride in my Jeep about the ride quality being amazing or really good. Even with all terrain tires too. The tranny does get confused at times and kicks really hard in parking lots. It doesn't seem to be doing it anymore though.

Funny that someone should mention this at this point. I've felt from the beginning that my V8 ran nicely, but I noticed around the 18-20,000 mile point that it seemed to be running especially sweet . . . most notably, with more power.

Now, that's strictly seat of the pants, so I may just be delusional. However, in the past I've found that after I get acclimated to a vehicle's performance it doesn't seem as responsive. Because of that, I thought it was rather noteworthy that the GC now feels perceptibly more responsive.

I have a 2012 I purchased the beginning of November and it has over 25,300 miles. One of my coworkers was just gushing how smooth the ride was. He drives a WRX.

Hmmm....I'm in South Florida --- about as far south as you can be (SoBe). So dunno if we get winter blend gas here or not. The other person is in Las Vegas.

I definitely know that my WK2 shifts much smoother than when new. No question about that for me. But just more recently I noticed it is really really smooth when changing gears (and nothing has been reprogrammed at any service visit in the last 6 months at least). So it just keeps getting better ... great vehicle!

I have a different theory. My '12 Hemi is noticably slower in the hot AZ weather much like my past Sequoia. I think it simply runs a lot better in colder weather as most cars do. I think Jeep has the ECM really pull back the power during hot weather. My Jeep seems to run a lot stronger and smoother now at 22K, but I think it is more of the time of the year. When it hits about 88-90 degrees I notice a difference for the worse.
