Console shift light dead 2006 Liberty

The console shift light is dead on my 2006 Liberty. I have been unable to find any info on how to diagnose this problem or remove & replace the bulb.

Can anyone help with this?

It might be a fuse at least mine was pull the same fuse that controls right rear brake light

Thanks for the tip, unfortunately it was not the fuse. When I have more time I will do some more digging. Anyone know what kind of light bulb(s) are installed?

Hello everyone,

Just fixed this today! There is a very small bulb under the shift indicator letters. You will need to remove the console to access it. Reach under the left side (trace the wires) and grip the socket with finger and thumb, turn it clockwise until it stops, and it should come right out. Bulbs available at auto parts stores (or dealer if you wish to pay $6.00 for one)!

Best of luck!

UPDATE! The bulb for the 2006 Jeep Liberty shift indicator is:
Wagner BP161 Miniature Lamp About $4.00 a pair.

Good Luck!
