Heater Whistle on '12
A couple days ago my 2012 w/ 15k miles started with a loud vibrating whistle sound when the heat was on. Sounded like it came from the passenger floor area. It would vary in volume and intensity. Made an appt. to get it fixed tomorrow, and of course today it's not making the noise.
I searched the forum and saw there was a similar issue and a TSB for the 2011 WK2.
Anybody else had this problem with the 2012?
Any easy fix other than going back and forth with the dealer when they can't replicate the problem?
Something similar happened to me last week shortly after exiting the automatic car wash. It was very cold outside (-2 F) and I think either the wash pushed a leaf or some debris into the heating system, or somehow water vapor from the car wash got into the fan system and froze causing a VERY loud noise from the same area you described. It sounded like something was stuck on the fan blades. I tried fiddling around with the settings and turning it on and off, but I just finally left it on and after a few minutes it slowly stopped.
Re: Heater Whistle on '12
The cabin air filter should prevent a leaf or debris from entering the fan area.
