Done nearly 5000 klms in the WK2 diesel everything was going fine went for a drive into town weather was warm about 34 degrees could smell burning plastic thought nothing about it no warning lights or alarm that anything was wrong thought the hotter temps were just burning off something on the exhaust. Stopped in town for about two hours on returning started the car warning lights on all over the place and the transmission had shut down to limp home mode, lucky my dealer was only a few klms away and I was able to creep there at 40 kph not fun on a heavy traffic road. Turned out the (TCM) Transmission Control Module had failed, so the morale of the story if something does not smell right, maybe its not, so don't assume as it is better to be safe than sorry. It can take a long time to get anywhere at 40 kph if you are a long way from help!!!
