Leather Seat Quality Experience MY 2013

Having read dreadful owner experiences with the GC leather quality, mainly in posts regarding 2011 - mid 2012 GCs up to Summit level. Seat covers having had to be replaced after just a few thousand miles because of fading & cracking. Seems to be/have been a widespread problem with a badly processed leather or just a cheap leather quality.

Was quite shocked to read this after I had just recently raised the leather issue ("Natura Plus Leather"?) in an earlier post regarding MY 2014.

Any positive/negative owner experiences with the MY 2013 leather seats?

I made a reservation for a MY2014 Summit but I will need to see some positive information/feedback from owners/dealer/Jeep/Chrysler about the leather quality before I would execute an order.

Problems read seem to point to short-sighted cost-saving, and should not happen with a >$85k car (EU export model).

Chrysler seems to have replaced the seat covers under warranty, which seems to indicate it had become a known issue in 2011/2012 and that Chrysler should have taken countermeasures (better quality, other vendor) by now.

Waiting for our experts and interested owners to comment. May be not the most important issue but seats are a dominant visual object in a car's interior. Thanks for any feedback.

It was my 2008 that had horrible leather. Actually I don't think it was ever part of any animal. It split, cracked and looked like hell. But I have to say the saddle on my 2011 has held up very well and I have no complaints.

I wonder if the folks with 13s have enough time on them to tell. The bigger question is what will the leather be like in the 14 Summit?

2012 Overland with saddle here. I think the leather is amazing quality I had no issues and it looked like new right up until I sold it at 9,200 miles. It's definitely better quality than what's in my 2008 Acura.
Granted I'm not fat and don't scrape my ass with jeans across my side bolsters when I get in and out, but regardless it's been great. I am very happy with the leather in my overland.

My 2012 GC with beige leather is great at 8K miles. However, sometimes when it is hot it actually smells like a cow! At times I think this is great and other times it stinks! HA!

My 2011 JGC Laredo X has Greystone leather interior and no issues to report. From some of other posts I've seen this seems to be an issue on the Overland with the saddle leather interior.

I know there were some issues with the saddle leather, but my '11 saddle looks like new sitting at 22k. It seems to be wearing much better than my Acura TL leather I had previously.

My 11 Overland is not getting holes in the leather. BUT - I am not very happy with the wear pattern that has resulted. I have had the drivers seat cover replaced under warranty at 25k due to the creases and eventual cracks.

They were replaced by the dealership with the stock covers, and the new ones are wearing just the same. I am now at about 45k, and I am thinking that when I hit the 100k mark, I may be looking into a replacement set. I do clean and use the leather conditioner (Zaino bros), this does not really help.

Try skipping the conditioner, it may be softening up the leather. You don't need a conditioner, just keep the seats clean and wipe them with a damp cloth once in awhile to help keep them from trying out.

Drying out and over use of conditioner or the wrong kind of conditioner are the prime culprits of seat wear.
