Aussie dual battery connection
Hi All,
I hope you all had a very merry christmas. I also wish you all a very happy new year.
I have a Diesel JGC with quadra lift 2. I need to install a dual battery set up. The equipment being installed is removable and can be disconnected.
My main issue is trying to find a 12 volt connection that can feed the battery isolator. The preference is to connect to a supply that is only available when the motor is running, not from the accessories supply.
The reason is to prevent the starting battery from discharging. I am using an onboard redarc BCDC 1220 IGN battery charger.
Can you please help as Jeep Australia were unable to help.

Re: Aussie dual battery connection
You don't say which battery isolator you have. Many battery isolators disconnect the auxilary battery when they detect that the starting battery is no longer being charged by the alternator. This should do what you want allowing you to connect the isolator direct to the battery which is far better considering you may be drawing 20A. Your Redarc battery charger is a DC-DC charger so I'm guessing you are feeding it from the isolator to charge an auxillary battery in a trailer. Remember you have either a 180A or 220A alternator so why waist that potential capacity.

Re: Aussie dual battery connection
Try this kit , It will allow the battery to charge and give you control over which battery you use for what. We ran alot of duals ,this allowed us to winch off one will not running down our main battery

Re: Aussie dual battery connection
Hi BobT,
I am using a Redarc BCDC12-20 IGN charger, it requires a supply to prevent it from charging while engine is off or accessories are turned on. By the way I forgot to mention that my vehicle is a WK2
