calling all plasti-dippers......

can you use frog tape and get super clean lines like when painting......with plasti-dip? Do I add as many coats as I need to get the look I want, let dry and then peel off tape?...or is it better to peel tape off when the plasti-dip is a little damp?

ask viking and davy... they did stripes in plasti dip. pretty sure i read that viking said you need to pull the tape while wet.

Yes. I used blue painters tape and plasti dip to paint on my Stillens, because I'm to cheap to buy them lol. I think I ended up putting on 3 coats. As far as when to peel the tape off, its easier to peel it when its still a little damp, but sometimes it'll smear. I've pulled it when its dry also, and just used a razor blade to make sure it didn't peel the pd off.

Re: calling all plasti-dippers......

i only used PD once, that's on the stripes in my AVY and i followed what viking did in his thread.

I think painter's tape is fine but i used Frog tape. Tape off the surrounding areas, and start applying the PD, working your way from light to heavy coats. After that immediately remove the tape after the last heavy coats and the lines should be perfect.

Dont let it dry, it'll nvr come out perfect. I'll find the clip that helped me on mine.

anyone ever done the chrome moldings around the windows? Im gonna do my 06.

You want to pull it off when it's still wet, unless you're gonna use a blade. The chromes easy to PD. No need to even tape much
