3.6 L Check Engine Light - bad cylinder valve

I'm starting this to see if others are having same issue. Count me in as my check engine light came checked error code sure enough the number 4 cylinder is misfiring. Jeep dealer said it will take a week to get the part and up to a week to do the repair. I told my service advisor I read something about this on online and said I guess I'm one of the lucky(not so lucky) ones that fall in the .5 % of engines. She didn't say a word. When I ask if they had a lot of issues for this engine she just said well the part is on back order for a week and it is becoming more common every week that goes on . I have a feeling this might end up becoming a recall. My only concern is they will only replace the effected head not both. If it is a manufacturing issue as they stated why not replace both heads as this issue may happen to other side in time. So Lets try to keep track on here how many people are having this same issue.

2011 3.6L Jeep Grand Cherokee 13,450 Miles, Cylinder #4 bad build date 11/2010.

Last word from CJF was in August. That .5% is for all Pentastars. I suspect that heavier vehicles make up the bulk but CJF is not saying. Probably good for lifetime warrenty sales.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but good on the dealer for fixing it.

I am counting my lucky stars, knocking on wood, etc that my 08/10 built WK2 with ~26 000 miles has no issues. Hopefully it stays that way!

My girlfriend had the same problem on her '11 with 22,000 on the odo. Got it fixed under warranty no problem.

Took the dealer a week to get the head in, then one day in the shop for the repair.

I attached the dealer invoice so you can see what to expect.

Edit*** I just realized the replacement head was remanufactured. Interesting.

Car still in shop for this issue service advisor said she is seeing a average of 5-10 a week. It's becoming a real headache for Keep and there service dept. because Chrysler is making the special order the parts each time . And parts take any where from 3 to 5 days to come in .
