How To: Install Painted Door Handles

Ok well today I finally found the time to install these and figured Id do a write up to help people if needed. I didnt think it was all that difficult. It took me about 2 hours from start to finish.

Make sure you do this when it is warmer temperatures outside as there is a potential of cracking a door panel if it is too cold.

The back doors are simple, but the front doors require a little more work and a few more bolts to undo and tighter squeeze with your hands.

Tools Used:
8mm socket
10mm socket
Phillips and Flat Head screwdriver

Step 1:
Remove the screws from the door panel.

Step 2:
Remove the door panel by popping the clips out of the door itself. I got one started with a flat head screw driver and just tugged on the panel until they all came out. Then just lift the panel up and over the lip at the bottom of the window. If you want the panel to remove completely, you must remove the clip holding the rod that opens the door from the inside as well as the wire harness that goes to the auto windows.

Step 3:
Peel back the sound deadening material that is on the inside of the door.
In this picture I didnt undo the clip so the door panel was still somewhat attached and hanging there.

Step 4:
Remove bolts from the inside of the door that are holding the door handle in. Use an 8mm socket and extension to get to them easily. There are a total of three bolts. one is very easy to get to. The other two can be reached by using the extension through the holes in the door itself.

Dont just pull the handle out after that. You must first remove the clip that is holding the rod in place that opens the door when the handle is pulled.

Here is what clip im talking about. You can see the other two bolt holes to the left. I have already taken them out at this point.

Step 5: Remove old Handle and Replace with Painted Handle:
Slide the old door handle towards the front of the car to get it out of place. I took this chance to clean out the edges of where the old handles were.

Step 6: Replace bolts, sound deadening material, and door panel

DONE!!!

Additional Steps for the Front Doors:

After you have the door panels off, the deadening material off you must loosen the glass rails so you can get to the bolts holding the handle to the door.

Here is the rail im talking about:

Use a 10mm socket for these bolts

Step 1:

Losen this bolt. it will allow the rubber piece to open up.

Step 2: Remove the two bolts holding the rail

After this you will be able to pull that rail down and get to the other two bolts holding the handle to the door.

Well this is the first write up I have done and i hope it helps someone! This was my own process... if there is an easier way then please feel free to post it on here.

No door clips were broken or harmed in the install of these handles! :)
