Dealer Fitted Mopar Rock Rails
Anyone in Aus had the mopar rock rails fitted by a dealer. Just wondering what price to expect.

Got them shipped from the States, fitted them myself. Much cheaper and great feeling of satisfaction.

Thanks BobT, looked into it but wasn't comfortable with doing the install myself.

Re: Dealer Fitted Mopar Rock Rails
I got mine done a month after getting the car - Got the price to $1500 installed, but I think they said the install was much longer than expected - think they were saying next one they did would be more in the $1800 range..

I do see now though that have them at $1650 - when I got them they were $1300 - so maybe not much change out of 2k... not sure how much you can get them shipped to Aust for from the US, but in the help forum here there is an EXCELLENT guide on fitting them yourself...

Re: Dealer Fitted Mopar Rock Rails
I got mine from JustForJeeps for $1,042 AUD including shipping and duty from the States delivered to my door. That was last October, exchange rates vary. The link is Rock Rails - Jeep Grand Cherokee - Item # 82212157 . You could get a local mechanic to fit them. They come with detailed instructions and all the screws and fittings required.

Re: Dealer Fitted Mopar Rock Rails
Got mine from JustforJeeps and had my dealer fit them for me. From memory, they charged me around $300 for the fitting, which is pretty reasonable given the labour involved. I noticed that the bolts and nuts supplied didn't match the instruction sheet - too many of one type of nut, not enough of another. Having the dealer do the install meant I didn't have to worry about trying to source the missing nuts etc. I think that fitting them yourself voids the warranty on the rockrails. Not sure if that could affect any other warranties on the vehicle itself.

Re: Dealer Fitted Mopar Rock Rails
People purchasing from JustforJeeps - are you contacting them directly for a shipping quote? Everything I add in the cart and use the checkout page, selecting Australia, and going through bongo has an outrageous price for shipping. For example JK rock rails for $300 are $1300 shipping - seems way more expensive than other people are paying. It doesn't seem to differentiate what state I'm in either (the default is Antarctica!).

Re: Dealer Fitted Mopar Rock Rails
I ordered WK2 rock rails through JustForJeeps about a year ago. The price in USD was $765.00. Bongo added $213.66 shipping plus $84.88 duty. I checked the JK rock rails and you are right. Either it's a mistake or the party is over. I'd send JFJ an email to check that shipping cost. Then do a google search on "mopar 82210585" and see who else is willing to ship to Oz.

Re: Dealer Fitted Mopar Rock Rails
Cheers mate, yeah looks like the party is over... JFJ has said those numbers are correct. I only did the JK rails as an example (as the wk2 ones I'm after are on backorder and can't be added to the cart) but most things from there are now blown out by shipping costs. I'll check out some other sites - might have to look into a shipping container!

Re: Dealer Fitted Mopar Rock Rails
Maybe a group buy or something to get costs down..

Btw does anybody have the dimensions of the box and weight, as I would like to get an estimate from my US ship forwarder..

btw isnt 82212157 the correct part number for JGC

using these details
93 lbs (78X23X6) inches my ship forwarder quote is $340
So all up with these estimates (including tax) $1154 not sure about duty..

Yes it is. The only reason I mentioned # 82210585 above was because I thought BearG wanted JK rock rails. Be aware they now offer two styles for the WK2s. There is now the squarer Trailhawk style # 82213525 see 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Lifestyle & Off-road Accessories | Mopar
