Re: help
Why does the shop think it's the transmission?

There are a lot of things that can cause a vehicle to stall...the more you can let us know about your situation, the more we can help.

Re: help
jeep recommends a throttle body cleaning at the dealership. it's 103 bucks, and they say its should be done at the 20k mile service. If you never did it, go see about getting it done.

Re: help
Thank,s guys. My Cherokee only turned 33,000 and I did have the throttle body cleaning. The codes were erased by the previos shop that looked at it(go figure) and with that shop from what I remember came up ignition switch and about ten others, they told me to take [t to the stealer! The second shop had it for 4 day's and that is what they came up with!

Re: help
With it only driven 33,000 miles I can't believe it would be the tranny!

Re: help
what do they want to replace and what kind of codes where there... the ignition switch is a common failure, doesnt usually cause a dieout though. I have also seen coils cause a stall concern... typically to isolate that you buy one new coil and swap it from cylinder to cylinder till it doesnt stall any more (hopefully ;) ). low transmission fluid can cause a stall concern. Crappy spark plugs can cause a dieout in chrysler products (if they were just replaced with crappy gimick aftermarket plugs start with OE plugs.

Re: help
thanks jgc, like I said it only has 33,000 miles so I never had plugs replaced yet, fluid is good and they did clean the throttle body and rest iac counts with a pending code 1st gear error!

Re: help
sounds like a filter problem, split, broken, torn o-ring. I would highly suggest starting with a transmission service.
