Ding Dang Tranny/TC Leak !!!

Had my 2002 Jeep GCL in the shop to replace the seals between the Tranny and Transfer Case cost about $250 but, still seeing drops of Tansmission fluid on the cross-member. Does anyone have info on the most reasonable sources and how prevalant this issue is with this year Jeep?

Which engine/transmission/T-case you have?
As far as i know leakage in between transmission and T-case is quite rare. I changed the rear seal on my 5-45RFE during the rebuild. Its an easy job, but you have to remove the front and rear propeller shafts first and then the T-case. Could eventually be that the breather is blocked, so that the pressure buildup inside the tranny due to the heat will find its way out via the seal. Did you look well to see where the leak is coming from? Fluid on the crossmember could easily come from the transmission pan, which is more prone to leaks, especially when preformed gaskets are used instead of silicone.

try some stop leak and see if that helps

I would suggest not usning stop leak. saving 220 dollars on a simple repair is not worth having that stop leak in your transmission that may cause other more expensive concerns.

the transmission and transfercase output and input seals repectively are actually decently common leak points. reguardless of which one is leaking both are suggested to be replaced as labor difference for one or both should be nearly nothing maybe a tenth or 2 also considering many transfercases use atf it is not known which one is leaking typically unless you have an NV247 with clear fluid.

^^I agree I would not either. The only thing I add to my motor oil is "Flush" when doing a change. Quality oils have all the correct additives they need, minus friction modifier for some rears.
