Leather seat rip repair

I have a 1/4" rip in the drivers seat of my 05 WK GC Laredo. I looked on Amazon for a repair kit and there doesn't seem to be a solid choice from the reviews. Anyone have any experience with making a similar repair or advice?

I used a 3M repair kit, and it worked alright. Matching the colour took a few attempts, but the repair itself has lasted 6mos. So far without issue. It was also a little tricky to get the compund to the right temperature to cure properly, but if it didn't take I would just peel it off and try again.

The whole ''leather upholstery'' bit is a rip, (pun intended) lts only the center panel of the fronts that are leather the side bolsters are plastic.

The lower door side drivers bolster on mine has a load of cracks in it, its seems every one l look at over 75k has gone. The PO and myself are about 5'11 and old fashioned average (about 170-180lbs) Maybe thats the problem, azz aint big enough.

l would like to get a shop to put a leather panel in, but can only envision the nightmare of screwed up sensors that are bound to come with it

I got mine repaired at an upholstery workshop for ca. $ 150. They replaced the drivers seat left bolster (the plastic part) with leather of a very similar colour. It is not an exact colour match but close enough. Nobody notices the difference and the repaired part is much more durable. If you know a reliable uphostery store I recommend you to talk to them.

That's exactly what I did too. Cost me $75 for a new piece to be stitched in. After 3 weeks I've had no sensor issues at all. Just make sure the plugs are firmly reconnected.
