Family had a week away at Port Macquarie, located on the NSW mid North Coast. Along with time at the beach, we managed to get away from the crowds and into the bush a bit.
We had a run from Port to Cresent Head along Point Plomer Road, crossed the Hastings River on the car ferry. Point Plomer Road turns into a narrow track and a bit of a sandy rocky roller coaster, but still quite driveable at slow speed. After rain some of the deep holes would be a problem. But a good run and a few great spots along the beach. We came back via the inland gravel road, which is good and smooth and we easliy travelled at 100km/h with a great plume of dust behind us. GC feels great to drive fast on dirt - glued to the road.
Love the look of the GC with the air suspension up.
Another day we took a short run on Lighthouse Beach. Aired down to 20psi and no problems on the hard sand.
And just another picture at Taking Point lighthouse.
All up just over 1000km at 8.8 l/100
Re: Port Macquarie
Another very happy camper!
That's awesome pics. We are headed to port macquarie next week for a week. I will attempt to follow your route. Never done 4wd driving before, jeep not fitted with recovery hooks yet but I do plan to carry maxtrax. Do you think this will suffice or do I need to be better prepared? Do you carry the air pressure with you at all times?
Lastly are you able to send me the Google map link as to what route you followed?
