Best audio upgrade options
Hi wk jeepers,
I'm so new to this forum i feel guilty shooting questions straight away. I have been trying to find answers and although i've learnt about my jeep, its the sound system that remains a mystery to me.
My 2006 wk crd overland has the boston acoustics package and the headunit is the factory one, RAR. I live in south africa so its the 6disc one which also plays mp3 cds.
I would like to do the following 1) add bluetooth so that i can connect my iphone 5.
2) connect an old ipod to be housed in the glove compartment
3) purchase a sub (something like the jl audio stealthbox if i can find one) and amp to boost the BA system.
Can someone advise on whether i can replace the headunit and still use the BA amp to drive the standard speakers? I also need advice on how to connect a sub to this system.
Thanks to all who have contributed to this forum. I've been reading myself silly this past month.
Re: Best audio upgrade options
If you are contemplating replacing the headunit you will lose the factory amp in rewiring for a different headunit but if you are planning on getting a sub/amp combo it would be easier to replace the headunit and use the RCA pre outs on the back of the headunit for the sub connection as well as amps for the speakers.
