2014 Eco Mode - 5.7 Hemi

Curious why Jeep doesn't make this an on / off switch without a default ? ... Similar to Tow / Haul mode.

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee features a new Eco Mode that contributes to its improved fuel economy. Eco Mode optimizes the Grand Cherokee transmission's shift schedule and - in V-8 models - Fuel Saver Technology with cylinder deactivation as well as throttle sensitivity to maximize fuel economy. The Eco Mode also manages interactive deceleration fuel shut-off (IDFSO), which cuts fuel delivery when the vehicle is coasting to reduce fuel consumption.

In addition, the Eco Mode activates the vehicle's air suspension system (if so equipped), lowering the Jeep Grand Cherokee to "Aero Ride Height" earlier to improve fuel economy.

Eco Mode is automatically engaged upon vehicle startup. A button on the center stack allows driver's to disengage Eco Mode if more spirited performance is desired.

Perhaps the Feds want it defaulted to eco to save fuel. You then have to consciously take an action on every startup to use more fuel.

If it isn't automatic it can't be considered in CAFE ratings

Think Outside !- No Box Required.

I wonder if its any different than the existing stuff for all of this. My GC does all of the same things normally. Might be more marketing than actual changes.

Re: 2014 Eco Mode - 5.7 Hemi

Other than the early aero suspension mode, I think pre 2014 employed the same kinds of Eco mode features when the cruise control was engaged... well at least on the V8s.

Seems now there is another button to click off every time you start up. Do 2014s have a select trac sport mode?

Then we should be able to set the default on the EVIC...

This alone makes me want the turbo diesel... I'm reading tunes on a TD can fetch another 50hp/100 lb tq.

The diablo tuner can program those features on the 2011-2012 5.7 (typically disable them). Is there a tuner available for the CRD?

Not that I'm aware of specific to the Jeep CRD.... I believe that's just a matter of time.

I'm just really glad I will have the option to turn it off.

There's a whole thread on this in the diesel section if you're interested. I don't know how to post links.

If I decide to go with the Hemi, I'm glad too... however there should be a way to change that default.
