Please Explain what wheel offset is
Hello once again,
I want to to swap out my standard 17" rims for 20" rims. When I started reading about wheels and tires on this forum I saw a lot of refference to wheel offset. What is wheel offset and is there a range or tolerence that I have to stay within?

idealy, I would like to just put on a set of factory 20" wheels but they are fetching a pretty penny these days so I am looking at after market options.

Once again, thanks for any advice I might receive.

Re: Please Explain what wheel offset is
wheel offset is the distance the center hub is moved from the center of the rim either positive or neg.

Re: Please Explain what wheel offset is
Thank you so much. Like the saying goes........a picture is worth a thousand words.

If I remember correctly the Grand Cherokee's have a positive offset? Based on this info, if I reduce the Jeep's standard offet the wheels will move further outwards? If this is the case, how much offset do I have to play with before the tires start sticking outside the fender wells?

Once again, thanks for the info.

Re: Please Explain what wheel offset is
that is correct about moving the back spacing in ( toward the jeep) . You would move the wheels out .

I am unsure of the max amount of movement till the wheels stick out . I am still not overly familiar with the WK2's to answer that but I am sure someone on here knows it and can help
