DS Trinity and '11 JGC 5.7

I also posted this in the Diablosport forums but was hoping to get some feedback from fellow Jeep owners as well since those forums get very challenger and Ram heavy. This can also help any other members with similiar questions.

I put the 93 tune on last night, disabled MDS and throttle boost to 15%. My question is, I have a fastman ported TB, Mopar CAI, Catch Can and Corsa catback exhaust. Are there any settings that should be adjusted because of the few mods that I have, ie.. WOT Fuel etc? I never really messed with those types of settings before and I am a little anxious to start changing parameters without knowing what would happen. I have tried searching but I didn't find much reference for the JGC. I plan on getting a CMR this spring but would like to get the most out of it until then.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Wow!!!!! Talk about thinking alike!!!! I have the 2012 hemi overland with 93 tune as well and K&N CAI ported tb and corsa catback. I saw in one DS forum where one member increased fuel at WOT in all prm ranges by 3% to account for CAI which leans it out. Definitely subscribed to this thread and awaiting input from other members!!!

Trelos78, consider getting a catch can. I empty mine every 1500-2000 miles or so and it's usually 3/8-half full of oil.

But yes, I am going to try 5% fuel across the board and see what the logs look like and do more research. Hopefully some of our forum gurus can point us in the right direction. I had a custom tune from Flyin Ryan in my 08 and it was a beast so that is the direction I will be heading once it warms up a bit.

Hey Trelos78, did you adjust the shift 1-2 3-4 app%.? I want to test it out but not sure exactly what I am getting in to. I did add 5% fuel across the board and it made an improvement in the low end but I think I will try 8 or 10 this weekend because I was getting a little knock around 1800rpm or so. I will also try disabling traction

Enjoy

I increased both by 100 rpm.........shits nice now. I won't mess with fuel cause I am not an expert and I don't want to mess up the spak plugs. I'll let the CMR tuner do that. Spoke to American RAcing yesterday they are local to me and they might use my car as a prototype for headers. As soon as those go in I am getting a CMR tune.

First Impression w my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7

Today I was able to fool around with it a little bit. It was fairly simple to setup which was a bonus.
First impression is that you can feel a difference using the throttle booster for sure. Most of the upshifts felt a faster(except for 1st-2nd gear), but not as great as I expected(other cars Ive had tuners you can feel the difference). Lets face it Jeep put this truck out with a very poory tuned shift pattern/ gear transition, DS helped. I think Jeep and DS need to refine their parameters. I may be a tough critic, but when spending money on something Ö It better work correctly.

Lastly I want to mention that there is NO downshift option to adjust on Trinity for the JGC. With the Trinity (top model) this is the BIG let down. My Biggest complaint is when I step on it a little to pass at highway speed there is a rough spot in the engine tuning and a lousy downshift to follow. (actually worse than factory Jeep seetings)

Overall this is just my first impression. In the following days, Iíll be sure to check this unit out at further.

** One question for anyone that is more familiar with DS may know.. After they put a product out, do they ever refine their tunes with updates/improvements?

hmm...I think the slow downshifts are one of the biggest issues I have with the tranny/programming. I just experienced this about 10 min ago, I needed to get around a car and punched it...wait...wait...wait...wait...then downshift. Seems to be less of an issue on the highway, but anything under highway speeds it is delayed and abrupt when it finally happens.

I agree. This tune needs to be revisited by ds.

They just asked for an 11-12 Cherokee for some testing. I think that's what they're doing, refining the tune. I'm sure with all the pressure and demand, they released it prematurely without testing it enough. I'm sure they'll come through. Even with the current tune driving is night and day!!!

They had a lot of trouble finding a 5.7 WK2 the first time around (correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they ever did - the WD was the test vehicle for this one), so I don't know that this time will be any easier.

Re: DS Trinity and '11 JGC 5.7

I returned mine to stock for now from the 93 tune. I didn't like the way it drove on the highway. There is also a stutter in shifting from 1-2 at lower speeds. I can't trace what's causing that either so let them refine. Hopefully the next one is better or I will be highly disappointed. One thing is for sure, I will look at other options in performance programming in the future. DS can do a much better job of answering questions. I spent hours reading through their forums and many questions go unanswered or get generic responses. Someone has to provide better support, right? If not we need to get into the business ASAP :D
