WK2 Lift - More Questions

Hi

I'm thinking of lifting my Jeep, and am stuck between two options.
The rocky road spacer lift or Murchison lift kit.
I won't be doing very heavy off road stuff, and only plan to add the ARB bull bar when it comes out.

Most of the time the car will be on the road, so ride quality is very important.

Has anyone had these done? How do they perform?

Thanks a lot
Chris

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/01/23/a8ynume8.jpgHave had Murchison lift in not quite a year now (2011 Laredo CRD), has improved it off road 200%, on road just as good if not just a tad better, plus has allowed us to run BFG AT's 265/65/18 LT with no rubbing

Re: WK2 Lift - More Questions

I'm planning to install a lift kit soon too. I've looked at:

- Dobinsons 40mm springs and shocks
- Murchison springs and anti-top out plates
- Rocky Rd 2.5" spacers

I have a quote for Rocky Road spacers at $650 delivered and I would fit these myself, then take the Jeep for a wheel alignment.

I have a quote for Dobinsons 40mm lift kit, supply only is $1175 delivered. I'm quite unhappy with the price to be honest because these are made in QLD and they sell CHEAPER in USA than they do here?! They may be good but that pisses me off a little.

I have emailed Stu for a new quote on the lift kit. Waiting for a supply only and fully fitted quote from him.

At this stage I am tempted with the Rocky Road kit, but it would be nice to have Stu Murchison lift kit as I'd be supporting a local guy (who isn't trying to rip us local ones off like Dobinsons!) - but the price has to be right!

Thanks,

Kev.

Thanks Kev

I mailed Stu and it's 1000 delivered to Sydney and 1300 installed

Cheers

Hi Chris,
Where would you get the installation done in Sydney?
Manu

Hi,

Not sure yet... Not looked that far into it yet.

Spoke to the guys a Dobinsons, and they quoted me 1200 for the kit which included 4 springs and shocks...

Thanks.
Just got a quote in Sydney for the Murchison kit installed for $1600.

So stuck in the same boat as you Kev.

Rocky road is cheaper, but not updated, so when I finally fit a bull bar, it might cause the front to sag a tad.

The other two local ones are roughly the same price but you get new shocks with Dobinsons.

I guess it comes down to the ride.... 98% of my time is spent on the road.

Dobinsons springs are about 20% harder with Stu's being 10 to 12 %.

Anyone driven all 3 by any chance?

Do you have a hemi or 3.6? If you have the 3.6 it might be worth looking into swapping in a set of front springs for a hemi WK2, since that engine is a bit heavier, it might make up for the extra weight on the front end you'll be adding.

Re: WK2 Lift - More Questions

Is it worth getting some 1" spacers for a non quadralift CRD with 275/55r20 Cooper Zeon LTZ's?
I've heard that there is no rubbing, but am worried about wheel travel and the tires hitting the body under heavy load..

Chris's 01-30-2013 09:44 PM

Finally decided on the rocky road lift.
As I won't be loading loads of stuff into it, uprated springs were not a route I felt like going down, and I did not want to sacrifice the awesome ride the car has on the tarmac...

Will post pics when it's done
