From the horses mouth on the Harman Kardon System

I inquired about the H/K system being available in anything other than the Summit and this is what I got in return:

"According to our provided resources the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit models are standard factory equipped with the Harman Kardon 19 Speaker High Performance Audio System. The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland models do not have the Harman Kardon 19 Speaker High Performance Audio System as an available option and are standard factory equipped with the9 Amplified Speakers w/Subwoofer.

Please be advised, if a feature, option, or color is not offered on a
particular model as factory equipment, it cannot be custom ordered that way."

I had reported on here quite some time back that the Harman system would only be offered in the Summit and not the Overland. And of course the SRT, which they failed to mention in their response.

Notice how they really complicated that response. Lol. In fairness I asked about the WK2 not SRT.

Has to be tons better than the horrible Alpine system. If I were Alpine, I'd remove my name from this pathetic system, or improve it greatly. If they would at least use Type R-like components, and integrate their imprint mumbo-jumbo for time alignment, we could have something half-way decent.

remmy 01-29-2013 09:41 PM

Now THAT would be awesome of they utilized their imprint software. But I agree. If you're gimping to pay $40+ for a vehicle, at least out something decent in it.

Not sure who made the bad decision not to implement the HK in the Overland at the very least since the Overland is originally the loaded GC.

Coming from a Lincoln THXII system, I'm very disappointed (every day).

I have a 2014 limited that came with the H/K 10 speaker (subwoofer) system. I'm am disappointed in it and looking to upgrade very soon. I paid 42k for my car... And the stereo is horrible.

Are you serious? I felt the complete opposite. I thought for a factory system it sounds great. This is coming from a guy who's always installed after market components i.e. head units, speakers, subs, amps etc. What were you expecting and what do you find wrong with it?

I feel the system sounds great at low levels, but when you try to push it a little... It begins to distort and the bash diminishes. I'm looking at upgrade as soon as I can.

I think that you should listen to a Harmon system before making that comment. I had a Harmon Kardon in my old vehicle and nothing really compares.... Really Nothing

Harmon Group are the same people that make JBL Vertec which is one of the most popular Live Touring rigs in America. I also know that Harmon Group's Automotive division is massive. You can get a $70,000 Mercedes but after all the upgrades you still need to spend another $810.00 to upgrade to Harmon.

It is truely an amazing system and a pathetically sad as this may sound, It was the biggest reason I needed to go Summit (god forbid the thing actually Build!!).

Hopefully some Summit Drivers will chime in here?

I have the H/K 10 speaker system, I do not have the 19 speaker system you may have in your summit. I'm referencing the 10 speaker system when I say it's horrible. I hope you got your money's worth, because I did not.
