Heater problems 2004 Jeep Cherokee Laredo

My mother's 2004 Jeep Cherokee is having heater problems. It seems to blow a little heat at first then is basically cool air. Here's what I've checked: All the heater controls seem to function correctly. Low, medium, and high blower controls. Air seems to blow through all duct outlets (defrost / panel vents / floor) when selected. Cruise control is in good working order. Antifreeze coolant level is full in radiator and near the full mark in resevoir tank. Antifreeze is in clean condition with no contaminants visible. I've looked (glanced) at vacuum lines under the hood, and they appear to be hooked up and in good condition. Feeling of the hoses going to and from the heater core, one is hot and the other not. I'm thinking it's either a thermostat stuck or heater core problem? Any help someone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thermostat should be ok, otherwise the engine temperature would be low. When one heater core line is hot and the other cold, there seems to be no flow through the core. Could be a plugged core. You could try to back flush it and use some special cleaning solution for heater cores.

Thanks Frank for the info. I'll give the system flush a try.
