2014 flat towing
Behing my motorhome I tow a Liberty, but I'd like to move to a GC V6. I could tow a 2013 just fine, but what about a 2014?
I'm confused by initial info posted about 2014 GC -- a statement that seems to say Quadra-Trac/Drive II will only be available with V8 or diesel, not with V6 as has been the case up to 2013. Is this a correct understanding?
Because, for many motorhomers, if this changes it will eliminate GC as a practical vehicle to tow. (I never see a typical motorhomer towing a V8, because the "towed" car is just for local excursions, and it's important to keep the towed weight down.)
Background: What makes Jeeps so popular (aside from being Jeeps) is how easily they can be flat-towed without any mods. It just requires 4WD with Quadra-Trac/Drive II, which provides a little button and simple procedure to shift the transfer case (or equivalent) into neutral.
With Liberty being transformed back into Cherokee, there are also statements that it will only have Quatra-Trac I, but that can't be flat-towed. Not everyone wants to drive a Wrangler so I hope Jeep isn't throwing away the RV market.
If anyone knows the truth about GC 2014 driveline options I'd appreciate it. Before I lose the ability to buy a 2013 (which I'd hate to do).
According to the 2014 ordering and pricing information there is no restriction on getting a QTII with a V6 the, QD may be another story I didn't look that far.
