Rear flipper glass '96 Grand Cherokee

Does anyone know if the wires on the back of the rear window release button should have power all the time? Mine do not. (Fuse is good - and the rear wiper works)
The button doesn't activate the solenoid. The solenoid works when I power it manually. I disassembled the button and cleaned the contact surfaces.
Any help would be appreciated.

A button (momentary contact switch) is like a "manual relay" it is either normally open or normally closed. The best way to determine if the switch is faulty is to check continuity in both positions (pushed and not pushed). You should only have continuity in one position (assuming there are only two lugs on the switch)

Hacksaw,
Thanks - I can do that! I know I'm close to a solution. I thought I had it nailed when I saw how simple the button is. There are two contacts by the way - One on either side of the plastic carrier. When you push it, the contact surfaces complete a circuit. So I understand that continuity or no-continuity is the next diagnostic step. It may be a few days, but I'll report back!
