Best OEM size tire for 18's

I have a Laredo X with the 18" wheels and the stock Michelin's are close to done at just 30k miles. I'm looking for similar on-road, and better off road performance and snow performance, all-season tire that's the same size as the stockers.

Thanks in advance for all the suggestions

Re: Best OEM size tire for 18's

Greetings,

I am going to switch over to the Nokian Rotiva AT, they do cost a little more and the have the mountain snow flake rating.

Nokian Rotiiva AT

Also check out Goodyear Silent Armor, Firestone Destination AT and Cooper Discoverer AT3 (was my second choice).

Based upon your needs, look for a tire that uses silica or natural oils that is incorporated into the tire compound. These materials give you the extra traction performance needed for the snow/ice season. Not all on/off road tires do well in the winter. When you read the reviews on different on-line tire resellers, pay attention to the reviewers from the snow belt areas in the US and even Canada.

Best for now.:)

The Rotiiva AT was not available yet when I tossed my Latitudes for the LTX M/S 2's. A year later I tossed the new tires on our 2012 Subaru for Nokian WR G2's which are all-weather with snow flake/mountain symbol but not AT's. I feel both are good in the snow, but the Nokians are better. I want to read more reviews on the Rotiiva AT, but I think they are going to give the GY Silent Armors are run for their money as a light duty AT with winter rating all-weather tire.

Greetings,

I just got the Rotiva AT's installed today just before the storm hit us in the Northeast. Of course, their was no time to break the tires in correctly.

It is too early to give a good review, however, my early impressions leave me to believe that you are right and they will give the GY Silent Armors are run for their money. Fellow member Raptor loves the Rotiva so far.

Best for now.:)

How do the Rotiiva AT's compare in price with the GY Silent Armor's? Also are the Rotiiva's as quiet?
We dodged the snow bullet again. Got 1/2 or so of prediction. Went to bed at 10 PM Friday and there was 1 inch. Got up at 10 AM Sat. and there was 8 inches, sun out and roads all plowed.

I just replaced my original Mich Latitudes after 45K with stock size Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus. I really like these tires; good in dry, wet, dirt, but no snow experience so far this winter. I got them for great price too. :)

Greetings,

I purchased them at tiresbyweb.com, they are an authorized Nokian reseller. I got them for $10.00 less per tire then they show on line. With that price, they are about even with GY Silent Armor. With the road hazard warranty, I paid slightly over 1k for them with free shipping, which felt is was a good price. The GY Gemini service center were I bring the other car was impressed.

In terms of how quiet, I could not tell with all the slush after I left the GY Gemini, they installed for me. I have to go out later and the roads by me are clear so I will now get chance to see how quiet they are. I have to admit, I did sneak out last nitght about 1.30 am to see how they were in the snow at the shopping lot parking lot. For a tire that did not break in, I am impressed so far.

Best for now.:)

Greetings,

So far, I put on 150 miles with most of them on the highway. In terms of quietness, on a clean asphalt stretch, they were quiet and smooth. Once I run the some more, I will post my review on them. Hopefully, I will get one more snow storm to test them in and I will have to wait for some off-roading. As of now, I am very happy with them.

Best for now.:)

Ended up getting Hankook Dynapro ATM's in the stock size. Only 500 miles later, but I couldn't be happier.
