Hello all! - Blk 2011 Cherokee Overland Summit

Hello all! New to the board. Here is my cherokee. It's a 2011 Summit. So far all I've done is delete the resonators, installed Borla 4" tips, K&N intake, Diablo tune, 30% tint on front windows. Also attached a sound clip of the exhaust post resonator delete as well as a few pics I took while in the process of removing them.

Wow
Wasn't expecting her to sound that aggressive
Now I'm thinking I'm going the same or similar route

Thinking of getting rid of the reso's how does it sound compared to stock when driving around town and on the highway? Hows the drone?

I'm actually thinking of getting the suitcase muffler out and either replace it with a conventional one or going the route u have

It's sounding nice and I would also like to know how the interior noise is now ect

Thanks guys. There really isn't that much drone and when there is, it's around 1500-2000+/- rpm right before switching gears. The diablo tune made it a million times better...actually it's basically disappeared. I believe it had more to do with the MDS??? I turned MDS off just for that very reason.

To answer your other question, yes, I was in a open parking garage, but it still sounds aggressive like that even when in my driveway. The initial start is always louder, but once the rpm settles down during idle, it's a little quieter. Sounds good on the inside and it when you get n it or give it gas. I've had a few people tell me they love the sound and ask what type of exhaust I have.

All in all, I believe it to be a very worthy mod to make and it's very inexpensive to do. If you don't like the sound, put the resonators back on, or replace them with good mufflers, or delete the suitcase muffler. There are so many options. I just didn't want to pay $1,200-1,400 for new exhaust. I'm bias, but IMO it looks and sounds great. Only spent $300

Let me ow if you have any other questions.

P.s. I was told that if you remove the suitcase muffler, all that will fit in its place are 2 round mufflers. Doesn't leave enough room for oval, even the small ones. I was originally going to put super 44's on. That may have been a little aggressive.

Which were those 2 oval mufflers that will fit in there? Do you have a part number? I'm thinking of loosing the resonators and putting an oval muffler/res from magnaflow or alike companies.

There are a bunch of styles that would fit. Off the top of my head, I know the Borla type s and flowmaster hushpowers will fit. Just about every brand makes a round muffler. Just google round mufflers and the brand you like best.

Attached is a picture off what the stock suitcase muffler looks like. You can see how it is shaped. Thats why a regular muffler doesnt fit right in the space and you have to have 2 round mufflers.

Hey thanks for that picture! I mis read your post I thought you said only 2 would fit it. I have been looking at mufflers this morning. I am at the exhaust shop now getting the reso's cut out. Wish I would have bought 4" tips but I will be re using the stock tips for now.
