Side Exit Pipes

So a while back I wanted to get a louder sound out of my jeep. Something that would be noticable but not sound like a rice burner (sound from glass packs with no modded exhaust). I went to autozone and bought a cherry bomb turbo muffler after seeing a few on youtube. I ended up getting the thing just because it was cheap enough to where I wouldn't really care if it didn't give me the sound I wanted. After having it a while I'm kind of getting tired of the drone it has and want something a little louder. I saw a video of side exit pipes with power sticks and not only does it look awesome, it sounds incredable. So my question is: Does anyone have a setup like this they would be willing to share some info on? OR What would you sugest to improve upon my current set up?

A guy on here Kyle, with sn NHWK05 has or had his pipes going out the side. I'm sure he'll be able to chime in on how he did it.

The louder you go the more "drone" you'll have. You can't really avoid it. Corsa says their mufflers doesn't drone, but do you really wanna spend $200+ for just a muffler? Side exits are cool, but if you carry passengers in the back, their legs might get burned...believe me, I know. LOL...

True, didn't really think of that. It doesn't neccesaraly have to be side exit or wake the neighbors but still looking for something that sounds healthy. Maybe a nice cat/muffler combo. Just wondering what would be the best for my jeep. I love borla exhaust but not sure if that's just going to defeat the entire purpose as they tend to be a little more quiet unless you're pushing something serious (ie. not a 4.0 I6)

I had a Magnaflow on my ZJ with the I6, and it sounded really good. Perhaps look into a 18" oval, or if you want it a little more talkative, a 14x4" round case. I'd keep it out the back too. Having a tail pipe makes a difference.

Awesome! Will check into it. And was also thinking about a powerstick. Saw a write up on one of them and they sound totally bad ass.

Is it a gun metal overland?

It is a Freedom Edition with the optional 4.7HO only offered in 2004.

If you're talking about the WJ True Dual Powerstick video, that would be yours truly.

Powersticks are really, really raw. If you want a smoother sound, but still loud, then a 14x4 round Magnaflow resonator would be the way to go.

Believe me...I've had enough exhaust changes and mufflers...lol!
