Coolant bubbling out of reservoir?!?
I have a 08' 5.7L WK with 43K miles and I have noticed some red/orange liquid on top of the antifreeze reservoir. I know its antifreeze but why is it doing this? It doesn't look like its much just a couple of reddish/orangish spots on top of it, should I be worried?

Re: Coolant bubbling out of reservoir?!?
No, i wouldn't worry about it. My 4.7 did the same thing when i had the coolant bottle filled at and above the FULL mark. When you go over a curb or something the coolant will splash in the tank and sometimes comes out the vent holes at the top of the cap.

At least that was my situation regarding this...

Re: Coolant bubbling out of reservoir?!?
Thanks for the replay, right now my coolant is sitting just below the full marker. I cleaned the top of the reservoir to see if it happens again. I also read that it could be the radiator cap so I checked it and it had shit all on it so I cleaned it but I'll probably just buy a new one.

Yeah your radiator cap might need to be replaced due to the spray from it when under pressure. Others on here have replaced it with a Stant brand cap and have had fine results. Just make sure you get the correct one for your Jeep.

Re: Coolant bubbling out of reservoir?!?
What does "shit" on the radiator cap mean? Is it frothy and brown like oil contamination?

Yeah do a compression test/leak down to be safe

Changed the radiator cap and all seems well now, thanks everyone for your help.

Re: Coolant bubbling out of reservoir?!?
The stant rad cap (#11334) is what almost everyone seems to buy when they're having issues with the stock cap. I swapped mine out at 8k and have not had a single leak from my radiator cap since and im at 56k. *knock on wood* :D

My reservior also leaks at the top near the cap too. Just keep your eye on your coolant level and add if necessary to keep it at the "full" line.
