Swap 2011 Laredo E for 2008 Diesel Overland? Whhaat?

So my dealer is offering to swap my 2011 Laredo E V6 w/27000 miles for a fully loaded 2008 diesel Overland w/56000 miles. The Overland was owned by 1 person who took crazy care of it. It's in like new condition!

I'm currently considering it...

Thoughts???

Check the vehicle out and make sure it's got the right oil in it. If it's had the right oil, I'd jump on it. It'll be better equipped than your Laredo E, with a bullet proof MB CRD engine.

Assuming the price is fair that is. It's rare to find those with low mileage, and when you do, they tend to want a lot for them.

I've had a look at it. Not a blemish or scratch on it. All maintenance done at the dealer. I looked at the maintenance log and car proof info. It's flawless.

It's a fully loaded Overland with saddle brown interior. It's got the rear dvd option too.

So maybe, just maybe I'll do the swap. Just pondering at the moment.

Out of curiosity, why do you want to do it?

Re: Swap 2011 Laredo E for 2008 Diesel Overland? Whhaat?

1. The lack of low range on my 2011 is really starting to piss me off. The 2008 has Quadra-Drive II
2. Tons of nice features in the 2008 and the saddle interior is very sexy
3. Diesel in the 2008
4. It would be a swap, wouldn't cost a penny for me to do it

I'm pondering it, dancing around the idea.

I wish I had that option...go for it !

Think Outside !- No Box Required.

I find the 2008 to be smaller on the inside than my 2011. There's much more wiggle room in my 2011. I'm mulling over it. Maybe I'll go see it again tomorrow. Will see.

hes giving you a 3 year old car with for a newer car that has a complete redesign?

You really think the dealer is trying to benefit you? Hellll no

Unless you owned a WK before your WK2, if I were you'd I'd take it for an extended test drive, like for a day or two, to make sure you really like it.

Also, not that it necessarily matters, but while it may not cost you up front, it may cost you later if/when you plan to sell it or trade it in. Just something to keep in mind -- I'm not trying to discourage you. :)

Reliability for that year and warranty is one other thing I'd be worried about.

Tell the dealer to throw in an extended warrenty.

The MB engine itself is reliable, plenty of those running into the 200k+ range. The question is if the dealership did the maintenance CORRECTLY on it. A lot of those CRDs were massively violated by poorly trained techs, using the wrong oil, wrong parts, etc.

I'd agree with the test drive idea though, try to take it for a day or two and see what it's like to live with it. The interior is a lot smaller, the WK2 is quite a bit bigger than the WK was inside and out. If you can get past a few materials things with the WK, it's a nice vehicle, and it's got a lot of aftermarket support the WK2 doesn't have (aftermarket headlights, taillights, etc.)

Couldn't hurt. Those CRDs have strong residuals (there's plenty of them with 100k or more on them selling for $25k or more), but the reality is it's a 3 year older truck, and while that CRD Overland was more new than your Laredo, I'd say they've got a bit of room to wiggle in. Those warranties aren't as expensive as they claim either, they probably would pay less than $1000 for the top level, longest term one.

That saddle brown color they had was nice. I'm more a fan of the WK2's peanut buttery saddle, but the dark brown saddle they WK had was nice as well.

Re: Swap 2011 Laredo E for 2008 Diesel Overland? Whhaat?

Well I saw, I test drove, and I walked away.

Why did I walk away and thus kept my 2011?

Well, for a Grand Cherokee, it was far from grand, more like Small Cherokee. My 2011 is huge compared to it. I felt squashed inside of it, like a sardine can. The engine was very noisy and the road noise was very audible. There were wear and tear cracks in the leather seats. I found the quality of the materials, especially the plastic, to be very cheap.

Nope, no WK for me. Hell no!:notsigned:

I hugged and kissed my Laredo E when I got home, apologizing to her for trying to trade her in. I'm sorry!!:o
