Inspection question.

I need to get my car inspected bad, after I installed the intake and exhaust I had to drive it awhile before my computer would allow them to run something with the inspection on the engines computer. But I need new tires, my stock ones have 38k on them, do they check the tires during the inspection? I'd rather not pay 50 bucks, find out I need new tires then pay another 50 bucks to have it reinspected since im on a tight budget. :D

You don't have to pay again, if they fail it for the tires and put a rejection sticker on it you've got I think 60 days to get it fixed. If you go back to the same place they don't charge you again, only if it's over the 60 days.

Midas told me if I fail and choose not to get the work done by them they recharge the full price? That sounded strange to me which is why I asked. I dont think I would ever use Midas for any work other than my Muffler install, and definitely not any major repairs or tires. I should have the money in a week or 2 for the tires so I guess I minds well wait and hope I dont get a ticket.

i would get that done ASAP. in PA out of inspection is an automatic ticket and its over $100, they dont give warnings for it. my tires are originals with over 58k on them and i just passed inspection two weeks ago.

They check everything...It's an inspection. You can probably find a shop that will let you off the hook or something. Plus do they still have enough tread? You don't want to be driving with no Tread. Just saying...

I would ask your buddies if they know anyone that works at a place doing inspections that will let things slide if needed. Here in MA if you get a rejection sticker you dont have to pay for another inspection if you get things fixed in X amount of time and go back to the original inspection shop.

When iIfirst bought my WK the shop I went to wasnt going to pass me because I had a thick black rear license plate trim piece that covered some saying thing on the bottom like "The spirit of America" or some crap. He made me take it off before he would print the sticker, that was the only thing "wrong", he checked EVERYTHING, I mean put the car on a lift, every single light, horn, brakes, what a joke. So this past inspection I went to another place and all they did was honk the horn, put the front drivers side on a jack and wiggled the wheel around, then printed me a sticker. I even had the same rear lisence plate trim on and they said nothing about it. Im sure there are shops around you that wont be so anal with inspections, try to find one of them.

Oh, and I def would get an inspection done asap even if it gets rejected. Two years in a row I got tickets for out of date inspection stickers, one was from a cop who happened to be in his car on the side of the road and told me to pull over, the other was from a dam meter maid, and both went against my car insurance and paid for it for 5 years after. My car insurance went up alot because of them. Not worth it.

^^^ Yup, its driving a vehicle with no sticker, moving violation which is a surchargable offense. at least it is here in MA.
