Technical problems 2002 JGC 2,7 CRD

Have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2.7 CRD that would not start / no reaction when the ignition key is turned and has zero impact on the lights and instruments that are all dead no - reaction. All fuses checked OK battery has standby voltage of 12.6 volts. The car ran fine when it was parked for 3 days ago. Suspect that previous engine wash possibly may have had an influence. Any good suggestions for a solution would be appreciated

Re: Technical problems 2002 JGC 2,7 CRD
There are several posibilities. Could be a problem with the ignition switch, but could also be a problem with a battery cable or ground connection. The battery cables can give problems with corrosion of the cable close to the battery terminal, but hidden under the cable isolation. Put the ignition switch in on and when someone is watching the instrument panel, tap with a wrench or so on the cable close to the terminal or try to bend the cable a bit (the cable is quite rigid, so some force will be required) and see if the instrument panel comes alive or some flickering of the lights can be seen. If yes, you need to remove the cable isolation for inspection and eventually replace it.
