Overland Black Interior: What to Expect?

I have a '14 Overland on order as of yesterday with the Black interior with Nador Brown Walnut wood. What color is this wood? It also looks like this is not the open pore wood like the other two interior color options.

I've never been a fan of wood grain and I don't want the same cheap looking wood as I have in my company Impala....

I suspect your Impala has "plastic wood"... ;) (Although I could be wrong on that since I did no research before replying)

Yes, it does. It's hideous...

Before I actually started seriously thinking about buying a Jeep I pulled into a dealer and was looking around the lot. A salesman came out with keys for the '13 Overland I was looking at. Since my MDX has 'plastic wood', I asked if the Jeep was real wood. He smiled and said are you kidding ... it's plastic.

I didn't go back and order from him.

I'm curious as well what color this wood is. I like the current color in Overland models now and the darker brown with the Indigo doesn't look bad either. I can't believe Jeep has shown all the interior colors except black. I would think since black is one of the common interior choices, they would have had press release pictures of it or at least had one to show off at the show. I understand it's nothing new like the Indigo, but it's a popular choice.

Expect the black to actually look nice unlike the blue interior :)

But seriously, they've already had the black interior on the Overlands, Id expect it to be pretty much unchanged. And it's gorgeous :)

This is what brown walnut wood looks like

I'm interested in seeing what the new non glossy wood looks like in the flesh. It looks like you could swap it pretty easily to the 11-13s easily. Unfortunately you might have to switch to the new ugly wheel to do it.

I wonder how the steering wheel is going to look. I prefer an all black wheel with no wood...

Doubt they would remove the wood from the steering wheel on the black interior and keep it on for the Indigo/Beige. I think that's one of the features for the Overland model to have wood on the steering wheel.

What I don't like is the matte finish wood on the dash with the glossy finish wood on the wheel.

The finishes should match, and they do on all other vehicles with matte finished wood. If they have wood leather wheels...they are matte finish too.

Re: Overland Black Interior: What to Expect?

True, but I assume they do this to protect the wood on the steering wheel. Your hands are constantly on the wheel and not the dash.

Just because its matte doesn't mean its not protected. You can spray a matte clearcoat too.

Everybody else also uses a matte wheel, the first time I have ever seen the glossy wheel and the matte finish wood is in the 2014 GC.

I didn't realize that they used a shiny wheel with the matte wood. I agree, that looks cheap and like the interior team didn't talk to each other.

Marchionne should have their heads on a plate for an error like this.
