Left over 2012 JGC Overland Summitt

Hi all - first post but not new to the site. I have been looking at a 2013 JGC Overland Summit but just saw where my local dealer has a left over 2012 Summit.

The local dealer has quoted me $47,000 (on a $52,000 MSRP) for the 2012. I know this is crazy for a leftover 2012 as I have found that I can get a new 2013 Summit for around $45,000 from another dealer.

Would you go for the leftover 2012 if price is right or go for the 2013? What do you feel bottom line price on the 2012 should be?

Thanks for your input.

Why pay more for a vehicle that is 2 yrs old now. I wouldn't get it unless they would sell for 40k, but that is me. Depreciation has to be a factor. If the 47k is invoice, they need to come at least 10% under that would be my guess. The choice is yours

are there any changes from the 12 to the 13? I'd go with the '13 just for the peace of mind. but at wholesale I'm not seeing the '12s go for much cheaper, all things equal. so perhaps there really isn't an amazing incentive that should motivate you to go with the '12

THanks for the replys. They both have the Hemi in them. As for the 2012, the depreciation is a major concern to me. Thats why it would have to be around $38-39k for me to be interested.

I am not certain of any major changes from the 2012 to the 2013. ??? Anybody?

Thanks again- keep your suggestions coming.

A. As you already know, $47K is absolutely insane for a 2012.

B. Truecar says you should be paying closer to $45k for a '13 V8 Summit. The lowest priced '13 V8 Summits on cars.com and some of the dealers' websites near me are ~$44k. Keep in mind that those prices include all applicable rebates. However, I personally wouldn't feel comfortable paying more than that considering that the WK2.5s are just around the corner.

C. '12 or '13 is up to you. The '13 Summit added power folding mirrors, headlight washers, front parking sensors and I may be missing something else.

Look at the wk2jeeps.com site and check the features differences, I don't know what they are. But they don't want to get rid a 2yr old car at a lot lower price than the 13, then go 13. Would be better resale value on the 13 than 12

Good points guys! Yes $47,000 is crazy for a 2012. The sad thing is the dealer thought he was really giving me a good deal!! HA The out of town dealer has been more reasonable with pricing and seems to be a no bs place.

AFAIK, on the Summit, the MY13 has power folding mirrors, ParkSense (front&rear) and the headlamp washers. The MY12 doesn't.

He didn't think he was giving you a good deal. He thought you would think he was giving you a good deal. Big difference. ;) These 2012 and 2013s are going to be really hard to move in a couple of weeks. If you're set on one, wait til the 2014s are on the lots.

Just an FYI, I paid around 47k out the door (including tax, title, and fees) in December for my '13 Summit V8. For a whole extra year older and a few small features less, I would want to hear at most the high 30's before tax, title, and fees. The problem is that they wont do that and will sucker someone down the line convincing them their price is beyond fair.

I sure didn't pay that much for my MY12 Summit at the end of July 2012! Invoice minus 1% (Affiliate) minus some other incentive...I don't even remember right now. But it was way less than $47K!!
