I finally found it!!!!!

After months of trying to chase down a rattle that's been driving me absolutely nuts (checking all nooks and crannies, finding all kinds of loose change that fell out of my pockets, and completely disassembling the center console...twice), I finally found the culprit. It was a screw rolling around in the passenger's side seat back.

Something about these WK2s and loose screws. My wife's '11 had a screw rolling around inside the rear door panel, but that was a little easier to find and remove.

Here's the little bastard that was giving me all the grief this time:

That must be a load off your mind. I know it would've been driving me crazy too. Congrats on saving your sanity!!

I know this would never happen on the WK2 line, but a friend of mine, many years ago, had a clunking noise that drove him crazy. I don't even remember the make of vehicle. Turns out it was a glass coke bottle rolling around inside a cavity of the unibody!

The worst part is that it was one of those rattles that only happened in certain situations, so guaranteed it wouldn't have happened during the test drives if I took it in to the dealer for service.

Make sure you report it - direct to Jeep if necessary -

If you don;t they will never learn and never improve.

Maybe one of the guys who helped build it just put it there to mess with his head. :D

Years ago my Fiance had a new '88 Mustang. She claimed there was a clunk in the drivers side rear tire every time she turned to the right but it was silent when turning left. I advised her to take it to the dealer since it was only a few months old. The morning she was supposed to drop it off to the dealer she was cleaning out the car and noticed her bowling ball, in the bag, was on the rear floorboard behind the driver's seat. She called the dealer to cancel her appointment and told them her husband fixed it.

Tell me about it. My first vehicle was a '98 Tacoma. It had a bad case of the "dash rattle" I believe I became an excellent forum "hunter" because of it because I found many remedies but none of them worked. I ended up fixing it with a few zip ties zipped through each other to make a larger one and hooked it above the problematic dash mount and a piece of steel inside the dash. No more rattle lol. They are my worst enemy.
