So what's going to happen to '11-'13 values when '14 comes out?

First off, hello all.....proud owner of a '12 Laredo X Hemi here and just stumbled across the forum while researching the '14.

I've only been able to pick up bits here and there in other threads on this issue so I decided to start a new one.

1.) What do you think will happen to the value of the '11-'13's on the road as soon as the 14's hit the lot?

2.) How about all those new '13's sitting on the lot.....will deals be there for the taking immediately next month?

Thanks!

How long is a peice of string

Only time and market force will decide that outcome

Dealers can ask what they what. It's up to public as to what they are going to pay. Its up to JEEP if they offer rebates, loyalty cash etc. Here's an example in my area. Its been here for 6 months... LINK didn't work . It was a 2012 overland 4x4 Hemi price was nearly $38

Link doesn't work. See link in post #7. 2012 GC 4x4 Overland asking nearly $40,000. This dealership is local and don't deter from the asking price. NO full gas tank, no nothing...the price is what you pay although they may discount down the road...depending on how long it sits on the lot.

It depends on which end you measure it from.

Re: So what's going to happen to '11-'13 values when '14 comes out?

It will hurt the values a little bit, but I dont think it would be anywhere near as bad as when a completely new generation comes out. Yes I know the 2014's have some pretty signficant changes/updates/improvements, but its still technically a WK2. So I would say the 11-13's will still hold their value relatively nicely, however to a buyer who is very familiar with the Grand Cherokee's and knows exactly what they want, it will have a pretty significant impact. To the average car buyer they might not even know or care about the differences so it would be minimal. If your a 11-13 owner who plans on purchasing a 2014 then obviously for the absolute best return on that vehicle you will want to sell it pretty soon. I sold my 2012 Overland a couple months ago and I know first hand that they are HOT vehicles. I had a TON of interest on that vehicle and it sold for 100% my asking price. The buyer didnt even negotiate and it sold for what I bought it for new minus taxes and dealer fees. I did VERY well on that vehicle. I put 9,200 miles on it and had it for about 9 months. From my experience the WK2 Overland was easy to sell!

Clearly all 2011-2013s are now worthless junk heaps! :)

Supply and demand..
Some people will buy a used car even if it isn't more practical than buying new. In their mind used always equals the better deal. The 11-13's will do fine IMO. Its when 14's hit the used lots they might fall some . Some people have a budget of $20k used and that market might not even be there for them yet.

Agreed. Poorly informed consumers, and yet another reason to check this site out!

Based on the past, not much. People still pay decent money for the WK, and its now 1.5 generations old and a massive step backwards from the WK2.

The majority of consumers won't know there's any difference except that the newer ones are uglier. So the 14s won't be worth any more than normal age difference form a 11-13.

Fauee .. you made another funny.

All I have to say my second girlfriend was hotter than my first GF ... it just takes awhile to realize the old GF was actually a dog. We just don't like to admit those things.

;)
