HID Projector Retrofit into 2012 JGC Laredo E

6 Attachment(s)
HID projector retrofit into my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo E with standard halogen headlights with separate high beam.

I used The Retrofit Source for all the parts. Lexus RX projectors, MC-R shrouds, XBALED rings, 35w bulb with 3Five ballasts, relay harness and I also needed the Mopar specific relay harness to fix Chrysler flicker. The RX projectors are low beam only, not a bixenon.

Knowing how hard the jeep headlamps are to open, I cheated. I bought TYC replacement headlights to cut up. They use the standard butyl like everyone else and were easy to open. Felt better cutting into these and I have the originals if I need to return everything to stock. Painted the housings a satin black except the reflectors and shroud. Smoked the side markers. Big thanks to TRS and EssentialLites for the assist.

The LED ring is 5000k, very pure whiteÖ and VERY bright. Best LED rings Iíve seen. Its essentially a continuous ring of light, no gaps. I think it looks like behind the MC-R shrouds. Itís a nice alternative to a standard angel eye.

As already documented many times in the forum, the bumper and grille will need to come off. For those doing this, donít forget to purchase a few of the plastic rivets that are the one use only ones in the wheel well. Dear Chrysler: why use two different types of rivets. One resusable, one that is not. Why?

Not sure what happened to my white balance on the daytime pictures. The color is not as warm as it appears there, it really is a 5000k LED.

Vince those look amazing!

That is truly custom looking

Did you still have to cut the lip off the housing or did it just bake open?

I was speculating that the aftermarket headlights might not be sealed with the same sealant that Valeo uses. Now this definately make the possiblities for upgraded headlight wider.

Now that is just amazing... I really like what you did with the LEDs. Are they bright enough for Day Time Running Lights?

No cutting. Just a heat gun. :-) The LED is definitely bright enough for drl use. Just as bright, if not brighter than the bmw halo's. This bulb/ballast combo is probably equal to the stock jeep hid output. Those of you with stock hids know that it could actually be brighter! The mod/upgrade guy in me is already wanting to put in a 55w ballast and osram svs or cbi bulbs! That combo alone is almost the price of the entire project. Maybe a future upgrade. Just an fyi for anyone wanting to do this with deep pockets who wants the max output. :-P

I am a sucker for quality retrofits. I am too scared to tackle them myself though. I had a guy in Cali make a set for my motorcycle:

7 bills and change. New headlamps, projectors, shrouds, LED, ballasts, bulbs, wiring harness, mopar harness. Little things like paint, rivets, solder, zip ties, etc.

Re: HID Projector Retrofit into 2012 JGC Laredo E

Sorry - Except I want to order the Osram bulbs and whatever ballast is recommended. I have 3000k HID fogs that I will mod next if I succeed. Replacement housings are dirt cheap.

So are these fitting with no cutting other than removing the lens cover? Vertical and horizontal alignment on the mark?

Are your LED's the LED strip that TRS provides?
